Canan is a research assistant at Faculty of Architecture, City and Regional Planning Department at Izmir Institute of Technology, Izmir, Turkey since January, 2013. She has received her BSc degree from Faculty of Architecture, City and Regional Planning Department at ITU in 2011. In 2014, she completed her master’s degree in Urban Planning MSc program at ITU, with the thesis: “The Role of Non – Governmental Organizations in Community Based Urban Regeneration: Istanbul Case”. She has been a PhD candidate student in Urban and Regional Planning Doctorate Program at Dokuz Eylul University since 2015, with the thesis: “The Spatial and Social Effects of the Changes in Migration Structure: The Case of Izmir City Center Periphery”.
She has been a PhD student-scholar in a TUBITAK 1001 Research Project titled as: “Examination of the Effects of Spatial Pattern on Social Life Where Different Identities are Represented in the City Centers-The Case of Izmir-Bornova” since February, 2018. Also currently she takes part as a PhD student-scholar in a TUBITAK 1003 Research Project titled as: “A New Perspective on the Processes of Adaptation and Integration of Urban Refugees: A Social Innovation Experiment Aimed at Building Inclusive Cities”.
