Barış ERGEN was born in Ankara/Turkey. He started his bachelor education at City and Regional Planning department of Mimar Sinan University in 1999. In 2003 he graduated from City and Regional Planning Department of Mimar Sinan University. He started City Planning master education at Yıldız Technical University in 2003. He was assigned as research assistant at City and Regional Planning department of Erciyes University Yozgat Engineering and Architecture Faculty in November 2005. He graduated from City Planning master program in August 2006. The title of his master thesis is “A Research on Relationship between Urban Conservation and Urban Design Case Study Tokat”. He started his PhD education in March 2007 at Regional and Environmental Planning department of Technische Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany. He completed his PhD study “Buffer Zone Method, Land Use Planning and Conservation Strategies about Wetlands under Urbanization Pressure in Turkey” in 2010. He got “Doktor der Ingenieurwissenschaften” (Dr.-Ing) degree. He returned to Turkey in April 2010 and worked at City and Regional Planning department of Bozok University till 2017.
He was nominated as Associate Prof. Dr. at Erciyes University in 2017. He is still working as Associate Prof. Dr. at Erciyes University in Turkey. He interests in urban planning, open green space planning, urban design, wetlands and environmental planning; and he published papers on these subjects in journal, conventions and symposiums.
